Why a Class A amplifier ? Class A amplifiers offer the highest level of detailed sound possible. This is achieved by running the output transistors at their optimal level, with much more current than Class AB or Class B amplification. The increase in detail comes at the expense of efficiency, however, and results in a lower overall power rating. Class A amplifers will also run much hotter than other amplifiers since they use considerably more current when idle. If you are searching for the ultimate in detailed sound, at moderate power ratings, then the Linar Class A should be on your short-list. The new Linar Class A amplifier gives you the benefits of both vacuum tube and solid state amplifiers. With the finest MosFet Transistors and an intelligent circuit design, the Class A delivers smooth tube-like sound, while retaining the detail, power, speed, and bass-control of the best solid-state amplifiers. However, unlike tube amplifiers, the Linar Class A can handle very complex loads, being stable down to 1 ohm. The Class A has a straightforward design, free of signal path capacitors. This avoids the problems and limitations in bass frequencies associated with other amplifier designs. Conservatively rated at 50 watts per channel, the Linar Class A can drive speakers that other Class A amplifiers can only dream of. With Zero feedback configuration, and a remarkably stable circuit, the Class A has a unique ability to drive capacitive loads. This makes it an ideal choice for users of complex and high-current speaker designs. Like the 250i and the 500 Mono, the power and control of this amplifier does not detract from its ability to deliver all of the music. The Class A can dig out the most subtle micro-details in the source signal and deliver them with finesse. Continuing the tradition of Victor Sima's designs, the Class A offers you flexibility in both configurations and connections. The amplifier can be connected with either RCA or XLR interconnects, operated in either balanced or unbalanced mode, and allows the user to choose between inverting and uninverting inputs. The Class A can also be bridged into a Balanced Monaural Amplifier that delivers 100 watts of Class A power into 8 ohms. By splitting a mono signal into positive and negative phases, the Class A can amplify an unbalanced connection in balanced mode. This results in superior sound reproduction. Linar's advanced soft-start and instant-off circuitry limit the in-rush of electrical current during power-up and power-down cycles. This avoids sending potentially damaging noise to the speakers, as well as avoiding damage to AC components. The amplifier is constantly monitoring the output stages for DC voltage. If sensed, the amplifier will turn off automatically to protect the speakers and the audio circuitry. The power, finesse, and flexibility of the Linar Class A make it the right choice for any high-end audio system where moderate power levels are required. _______________________________________________________________ General Information • Advanced MosFet output transistors • Matched JFet input Transistors • Signal path is free of capacitance • Teflon Isolated RCA Connectors • WBT model 0765 safety line Binding Posts • No overall feedback used in the circuitry • Capable of driving any speaker on the market today • Extremely stable under capacitive and low resistance loads • Advanced Soft Start circuit to limit noise or damage when turning on/off • DC voltage protection circuit to prevent damage to speakers and amplifier • Fully complementary design from input to output • Massive heat sink for improved heat dissipation • Dual 750 VA Toroidal transformers, custom made for Linar Audio
